Outburst  by Yoram Kaniuk (From Present Light publication)

When you’re lost and have nobody to die with you get into painting, writing, shouting, weeping on paper in the cinema, into it you put all the sorrow you’ve got in your head, why you live and why you die and why you’re hungry and why you need a woman or man, whatever, and then you pick up a pen and write or paint or think about a screenplay and put into your head all kinds of scenes you’ve consumed or been consumed by, and then something comes out, it’s vague, slightly blurred and not whole, incomplete, raw, and then you start doing something with it, it comes from the depths, from despair, and it may be funny, funky, not consistent with anything, but it’s yours. It’s you.
